Capsicum (also Bell peppers, Sweet peppers) 07 Jan, Sarah (USA - Zone 8a climate)
I've had better luck growing them against the southern side of the house. That way the heat from the sun is bouncing back off the building onto the plants. You can also make a little wall around them to help heat them.
Potato 28 Jan, Mary (USA - Zone 10a climate)
I am trying to find a white potato to purchase now. Planting season for potatoes is growing short. Do you sell Zone 10a seed potatoes I may purchase now.
Potato 17 Jul, Linda (USA - Zone 7a climate)
You can just buy organic potatoes at the grocery store. I've done that many times with good results.
Garlic 17 Jan, Becky (USA - Zone 9b climate)
I live in Ponte Vedra (about 15 miles south of Jacksonville Beach). I grew a little bit of garlic last year in our raised garden bed. It didn't seem to have a lot of flavor. I see that you don't recommend garlic for zone 9B. Why is that?
Garlic 05 Apr, Jack Benimble (USA - Zone 9b climate)
It gets so hot in 9b you have to have a shaded area that receives sunlight. 8 hours in the blazing Florida sun cooks the soil and roots. The hot temperatures that can begin as early as March-April heat up the soil and accelerates growth too quickly which results in smaller bulbs
Rhubarb 17 Jan, Pat (USA - Zone 5a climate)
We have had good results using horse manure on rhubarb.
Tomatillo 11 Jan, Rory Derrick (USA - Zone 10b climate)
Hi there, from what you are explaining there it sounds like the fruit that they called tomatillo, it is a relative to the tomatoes, they are used in the making of the green Mexican style salsa type of topping sauce.
Ginger 08 Jan, Karen shaver (USA - Zone 9a climate)
May I plant ginger and horseradish in large container ( cow trough 8 ft in diameter) along with flower bulbs? I know I must keep horseradish confinded to control it. Want to plant asparagus, ginger, BlackBerry,, blueberries, strawberries , and horseradish along with my 12 container garden. Have most plants started in house. Should be able put them out mid March. Thank you for any suggestions you have for us.

If I plant a seed, preferably 2 and put it out doors in June, will it have enough time to produce a vegetable by the first frost in November? It is August and I just got my first vegetable to start to grow. It took along time for nature to do the cross pollination. Thank you, Linda from Virginia Beeach
Luffa (also Loofah, plant sponge) 11 Nov, Donna (USA - Zone 8b climate)
I'm in Port Angeles at 1,000 ft. I planted two Luffas (seed) in May. Only 1 produced fruit, and it only got about 7-8" long (3" in diameter). Are there any charts for altitude?
Luffa (also Loofah, plant sponge) 01 Jul, Mr. Loofah (Canada - Zone 7b Mild Temperate climate)
You lose an average of 3.3 degrees fahrenheit for every 1000 feet of elevation.
