Beans - climbing (also Pole beans, Runner beans, Scarlet Runners) 25 Jun, Anonymous (USA - Zone 9b climate)
I put my beans in a wet paper towel then put the paper towel in a baggie. I store them under the kitchen sink for a few days and they sprout. Then I take them out and plant them. This has worked well for me. I don’t plant the ones that do not sprout.
Sage (also Common Sage) 25 Jun, Jay (USA - Zone 8a climate)
In zone 8a, does sage act as an annual or perennial?
Sage (also Common Sage) 26 Jul, Melissa (USA - Zone 8a climate)

Jerusalem Artichokes (also Sunchoke) 25 Jun, Lynn (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
My Jerusalem Artichokes had very few tubers. Almost nothing. The soil is semi-sea sand in a winter rainfall area. The colour of the soil is like sea sand. What can I add specifically for Artichokes?
Jerusalem Artichokes (also Sunchoke) 29 Jun, (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Buy in some good soil and add compost manures etc.
Sweet corn (also corn, maize) 23 Jun, John dodgson (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)

Onion 20 Jun, Sue (New Zealand - temperate climate)
My onions got a rusty fungus on the last year how do I guard against this happening again. I grew the multiplying onions found them in the garden centre as Welsh Onions. They were great until they developed the fungus.
Onion 24 Jun, jim (New Zealand - temperate climate)
Copper copper copper I had same problem last year onions, garlic and leeks sometimes gardening is a pain but I still do it ??? Remember to use a sticker "sprayfix" by yates is one but most garden chemical people do similar it helps to break down the surface tension so the spray does not just run off do it before it appears and repeat it several times during the season only problem with it raining constantly it's hard to do right now. P.S. my mum used to grow welsh onions in the UK when I was a boy never saw enything like rust ?
Endive 19 Jun, Patty (USA - Zone 9b climate)
I am in zone 9B, Southern California. Is it too late to plant?
Endive 21 Jun, (USA - Zone 9b climate)
Best to wait until September to plant
Taro (also Dasheen, cocoyam) 18 Jun, The Jake (USA - Zone 9b climate)
Is it possible to get decent to good results from taro in the low desert of AZ? Is it even worth your time even if you just want the growth cover for the yar?
Rhubarb 18 Jun, Elaine Huneycutt (USA - Zone 7b climate)
What is the best Friday to grow in zone 7?
Asparagus Pea (also Winged bean) 17 Jun, Erin Nesbitt (USA - Zone 8b climate)
I live in Texas and it is almost the end of June here. When can I plant these beans or is it too late to plant them now. Would appreciate your response. Thanks.
Asparagus Pea (also Winged bean) 07 Nov, Cynthia (USA - Zone 8b climate)
Erin, I also live in Texas and I’m trying to get more information on growing winged beans. Did you ever get any answers to your question? If you did can you let me know please. Cynthia
Cabbage 16 Jun, Lesley (Australia - tropical climate)

Cabbage 24 Jun, (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
If you have a fencing company near you, go and see if they have mess off cuts (approx 6-8' x 4-5') . Make frames in a u shape and put insect mess over it.
Peas 15 Jun, John (Australia - cool/mountain climate)
I’m in a frost prone area. Can I sow peas in July in green house and transplant out in August. Are the flowers damaged by frost
Peas 16 Jun, (Australia - cool/mountain climate)
Peas can indeed be cultivated in a greenhouse and then transplanted. While pea plants themselves can endure frost, their delicate flowers are susceptible to frost damage, hindering the production of a harvest until the frosty conditions have passed
Garlic 14 Jun, Thomas (USA - Zone 7b climate)
If I plant garlic cloves in August in Zone 7B when would they be ready to harvest?
Garlic 16 Jun, (USA - Zone 7a climate)
They should take 17-25 weeks before they're ready to harvest
Asparagus 13 Jun, Janice (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
I planted a few asparagus plants in a small raised bed. The bed now looks very full. What do I do for over crowding?
Asparagus 01 Aug, Garlic Breath (Australia - temperate climate)
Try putting some in a seperate bed
Asparagus 16 Jun, (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Thin out weaker plants and provide adequate spacing between the remaining ones. You can also transplant or divide the crowns.
Garlic 11 Jun, Allan (Australia - temperate climate)
Can I grow Garlic next to Onions.
Garlic 11 Jun, (Australia - tropical climate)
Onion, garlic, shallots, and leeks are all vulnerable to onion maggots, so they don't make good companion plants for each other. These maggots can easily move from plant to plant, causing significant damage. To prevent their spread, it's best to plant these allium plants far apart from each other.
Gourd (also summer squash) 11 Jun, wayne (Australia - temperate climate)
Do gourdes need to be rotated to a different bed every year or can they tolerate the same bed for two years.
Strawberries (from seeds) 11 Jun, Nicole (USA - Zone 10a climate)
I want to plant some strawberries with my Borage - I have heard they grow well together - and I'm planting mid-September. It hasn't frozen once since I've lived here, so that danger is low, and I grow a ton of other herbs at that time of year through about now. My Self-Heal is just about to die from the heat, so I'm harvesting that on Monday. What srawberry variety would work well for my climate? I am really hoping I can buy the seeds from you.
Strawberries (from seeds) 13 Jun, (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
I grew borage once - the plants ended up 1m high and 1.2m in diameter so I feel the borage would just over grow the strawberries. They don't sell seeds here and you should find out what grows in your area.
Asparagus 09 Jun, Sandra (Australia - temperate climate)
I bought a punnet of very fine spindly asparagus plants a few days ago from Bunnings not much information on how to plant should they be planted individually or should I leave them in a clump? Theres about 2 dozen measuring 3 to 6 inches in height and should they be planted in a separate piece of ground or tub?
